The cultural centre, a former monastery on the border in the Pastoor de Katerstraat accommodates the International Library of Baarle, the Academy for Arts De Noorderkempen. and many other societies and organisations. Its main entrance is on Dutch territory and holds number 7. The Belgian front door is located only a few meters away and holds number 5.

In 1976 the border that runs through the building turned out pretty convenient as the in Belgium forbidden uncensored version of the Dutch movie “Turks Fruit” was to be shown here. The police officer of Baarle-Hertog was sent out. He had to watch in solitude from the Belgium side of the room, while the audience as well as the display were located on the Dutch side.
